Module 2: Local Leader – Building Community

When many people hear the word leader, they imagine presidents, governors, or famous activists. But real leadership often begins much closer to home. Local leadership is about how people work together in their communities to solve problems, make decisions, and move forward—sometimes in difficult or uncertain times. It requires collaboration, responsibility, compromise, and creative problem-solving. It also challenges us to think carefully about the kind of community we want to help build and what role we want to play in shaping it.
